Our Prescribed Burning Process:

(From first conversation to final ember)

1. Initial Contact & Consultation

  • You reach out to us via our Contact Form or phone.

  • We discuss your goals (wildlife habitat improvement, fuel reduction, understory improvement, etc.) and review your property’s location and size.

  • We answer any initial questions and explain how prescribed fire can benefit your land.

2. Site Visit & Evaluation

  • We walk your property to assess:

    • Vegetation type & fuel load

    • Existing firebreaks or access points

    • Nearby structures, roads and sensitive areas

  • We take notes, photos and GPS points to create your custom burn plan.

3. Burn Plan Development

  • We design a site-specific burn plan that follows Georgia Prescribed Burning Act guidelines.

  • Plan includes:

    • Burn unit map

    • Desired weather conditions

    • Ignition pattern

    • Smoke management strategy

    • Crew & equipment needs

  • You review and approve the plan before we move forward.

4. Firebreak Preparation

  • If needed, we install or clear firebreaks to ensure safe containment.

  • This may include mowing, raking, disking or dozer work.

  • Existing roads or trails may be used to reduce cost and impact.

5. Permitting & Notifications

  • We secure your burn permit from the Georgia Forestry Commission.

  • We notify neighbors, local authorities and any relevant agencies.

6. Burn Day Operations

  • We arrive on site with a trained crew, water units, ignition tools and safety gear.

  • Safety briefing for all personnel.

  • Controlled ignition begins under approved weather conditions.

  • Fire is carefully monitored and directed to achieve the desired results.

7. Mop-Up & Monitoring

  • We extinguish any remaining hot spots along firebreaks.

  • We patrol the burn unit until it’s fully secured.

  • In some cases, we return the next day to re-check the site.

8. Post-Burn Follow-Up

  • We provide a post-burn report with photos, acreage burned and weather data.

  • We discuss what to expect as your land responds to fire in the coming weeks and months.

  • Optional: We schedule future burns or habitat management recommendations.
